Kesanet Tesfazion earned a Master of Public Health with a focus area in Health Policy and Management in May 2023 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Prior to this, Kesanet obtained her Bachelor of Science in February 2021, majoring in Public Health, and concurrently earned a Certificate in Civic Engagement and Public Service. Kesanet has gained valuable experience in strategic planning and business development through an internship with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She has supported the development of program proposals and youth programming while consulting at Boston Centers for Youth and Families. Kesanet has also provided operational support and engaged in student outreach with Student Affairs and Campus Life at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Throughout her graduate studies, she remained an Advisor for the Student Bridges Agency, which aims to address college access and success for underrepresented students where she was previously employed.
Kesanet has a strong background in effective community engagement and has consistently upheld this principle throughout her educational and professional career. She is deeply passionate about Public Health and has conscientiously evaluated health topics and patterns with a health equity lens throughout her studies. Kesanet aspires to continue this work in addressing and alleviating health disparities with a community-centered approach.
